Conference Sunday

Conference was wonderfully rejuvenating as normal! (You can listen/watch/read the talks here) I love the opportunity every 6 months of getting to listen to the Prophet and the other leaders called of God. It's a unique thing that we have, hearing words meant just for us and these latter-days. Besides conference my weekend was also filled with a bridal shower, puzzles, taking family pictures for the Skousens, and many more things!

Sunday morning began like this:

I was not too pleased to see the snow...yes it's beautiful but I was hoping that we were getting closer to spring/summer rather than winter.

Brea and Darrell joined Mom and I for the afternoon session, so we got to spend sometime with this cuteness.

Addie and her Daddy took a nap sometime during the afternoon session.

Brea and I may or may not have worked on and almost completed a 1000 piece puzzle!

As soon as the session was over we got ready to take family pictures, Brea has been wanting to take them for awhile and having time where all of them are together doesn't happen very often so we took advantage of the time (despite the snow that wanted to fall on us).

Crying

On Sunday during Sunday School the teacher asked everyone who had cried, everyone waved their hands of course.

He then asked "what are some reasons you cry?" immediately there was the response "Girls"

The next question was "what do you do when someone you love is crying?".....

"When someone I know is crying I try to wear a black shirt so that when their mascara runs it doesn't stain." (of course both responses came from a guy)

Chicken Cordon Bleu

My roommate Candace likes to say that she can't cook, but then on Sunday she does things like make Chicken Cordon Bleu, it looked delicious and if I hadn't already had dinner plans I would have most definitely stolen some :D

College students don't seem to have meat cleavers so we had to make due with the rolling pin...Janet was the best chicken pounder while I salt and peppered the chicken and then Candace put the ham and cheese on it, rolled it up and then I put a toothpick in it.

Brea and Kimmy

While we were waiting for Darrell's brothers to show up when we had dinner on Sunday I tried taking a good picture of Brea and Kimmy. They kept on being dorks, the funny part was that they would never look at each other and half the time they would have the same exact dorky expression on.

Dinner at the Skousen's

Two weeks ago Brea and Darrell invited their siblings and I over for Dinner Sunday evening. It was lots of fun and they were super nice to make chicken enchiladas, rolls, and cinnamon rolls for everyone.

Who would have thought only 2 days after this Brea would be having a baby?

Be Afraid

Do you see this picture? Do you know what it is? SQUID!! And guess what, me (yes me) tried some tonight! It didn't really have any flavor but was just super chewy. We had it cut up in a salad, I tried a ring looking piece and then one of the tentacles with all the suction things. I was told that I should try it like this at the night market, it is very good bbq'ed...we will see.

Fish and Paper wanted to make us dinner one more time before we left, tonight was the most logical so they came over to make us some Thai and Indian food (Paper really likes to cook and experiment). They made some curry with coconut milk, a papaya salad, and then the salad with the squid (the rest of the salad was actually quite yummy- I even had seconds!)

Good-Bye Dinner

The Goa's left this week to visit his family and then to return to America. We had been wanting to have them over for dinner before they left, to say thank you, good-bye, and just because they are awesome people that we like. We realized that last Sunday would be our last chance and invited them over, it didn't hurt that it was Mother's Day and we could give her the day off from cooking. Along with the Goa's we also invited the Sister Missionaries.

Alan and William were watching TV and it was a nice warm day so we decided to move the table out to our "deck," it looked really strange in the kitchen without it so of course I had to take a picture.

We're not used to making large quantities of rice so we had the Sister's check it to make sure that it was ok.

A lot (Funny story about Alot--you should check it out HERE) of people equals a need for a lot of curry. It was a little more challenging trying to keep track of such a large quantity cooking, I now have more of an appreciation for the cook who cooks for 50+ everyday)

Sister Goa and Cougar arrived a little bit earlier than Bro Goa and Hyrum so we had some just stand around and talk time.

This is Cougar's cool hat that he had made, #26 was his number at school and on the back it said "GO USA!"

The were sweet and brought watermelon for dessert. It was super yummy (and the leftovers lasted until Wednesday- watermelon everyday...YUMMY!) and kind of weird to see red watermelon again (we always eat yellow watermelon at school)

We will miss the Goa's they have been good friends while we have been here (especially Sis Goa translating for us in Relief Society- it will be an interesting remaining month and a half without her)

Pretty in Plaid

The day before I left Elise, Mom, and I went and watched The Princess and the Frog and of course we couldn't go out without a little bit of shopping :D We stopped at Fred Meyer and I saw these super cute shirts in clearance, I wore the red one (I also bought a green one like it) last week for my first Sunday, with my jean skirt I felt Western (or as Elise likes to put it Hickery)...I couldn't help but feel cute! :D

First Brake-the-Fast

Sunday I went to my first brake-the-fast (wow, I've been doing a lot of "firsts" lately). I had my camera there but was kind of busy eating and so didn't take too many pictures, I did get a couple though...

While we were eating our food Stacey was telling this story about this kid that would eat anything (including batteries and mercury thermometers), when Bryan reached down and grabbed his cup and took a huge bite out of it, saying "I don't know why kids do things like that." It was pretty funny, I missed him actually taking a bite out of the cup but I did look up to see a huge hole in his cup and white stuff in his mouth.
