Do You Kuru?

I have to start this off with the preface that I am not a runner (or much of a walker either), I've never needed shoes that allowed me to run like the wind or walk the Great Wall of China. I've always been content with the five dollar shoes, granted sitting on your bed or couch all day doesn't really require more than five dollar shoes. My previous stance has always been, "hey they fit, awesome!"
At the end of January I got a pair of Kuru shoes, they came just as I was leaving on a trip to California with my brother so I threw them in my bag to use as my walking shoes. I started to regret that I had brought them as my only walking shoe, going on a 3 day tourist trip around San Fransisco, San Jose, and the surrounding areas is not exactly the ideal place to break in new shoes. I had no choice so I put them on the first day we went out...the amazing thing?! At the end of the day my feet weren't even hurting!
This semester I have babysat for a BYU professor at her home two days a week. I ride a bus and then walk two miles from the bus-stop to her home, I was a little worried at what shoes I would wear that would last the four miles a day, plus playing with the kids. So I decided to try out the Kuru's, most days when I get home I feel fine except being tired (try spending the afternoon with 3+ kids and not being tired), my feet don't hurt and I feel awesome for having walked for the day.
I'm not generally one to "advertise" different companies here but I'm sure that I'm not the only one that sometimes wishes we had better shoes for our feet, if you are ever looking for something a little nicer I would definitely consider KURU, they are a little on the pricier (remember the fore-mentioned spending habits) but they are definitely worth it---plus they aren't that bad looking either! :)

The Door That Never Opened

All my growing up there were 7 different doorways that went off of our very short hallway...
1. My Mom's craft room
2. The Bathroom
3. My Parent's bedroom
4. Stairs going to the 3rd floor
5. Stairs going to the basement
6. Dining Room entrance
7. For those that have been to my house they might have trouble figuring out what #7 could possibly be, I've listed all of them. Ahh but you are wrong, on the wall between the hallway and living room there is a door! But this door had never been opened in my whole life due to the fact that we had bookshelves, desks, and a couple of other things in the way. When we had cleared everything away from the living room and hallway I was quite excited to open the door and I enjoyed showing people how you could now run in a circle around my house (which is why my Mom said it got shut in the first place, my older brother's Ben and Nathan would run in circles and it got annoying very fast so she stopped the problem). Before we left my Mom wanted to take a video of me running in a circle through the house, I apologize that it is sideways.

Easter Egg Hunt

Last week in honor of Easter we did an Easter egg hunt for the kids during one of our afternoon classes. While the kids watched Winnie the Pooh: Springtime with Roo, Andrea and Yuling hid the eggs outside.
When it was time Yuling came and explained the rules, if they brought in one egg they got one sucker, if they brought in two eggs at one time they got one suckers (the objective was to make it last as long as possible so we wanted them to bring them in one at a time).
The 3 year olds got to go first, for 30 seconds and then the 4 year olds joined them for 30 seconds and finally the 5 year olds were released (they were anxious to go, with their shoes already on by the time it was their turn).
The kids had a blast rushing to try and find eggs and then running like there was no tomorrow to get their suckers. When class was over there was still 3 that had not been found, so Yuling offered a bigger prize for the 3 lucky people that found them. Later when I came back downstairs, Wendy (who had found one of the 3) was so excited to show me her big candy cane that she had won!

Running Shoes

This won't be as exciting to everyone else as it is to me, but oh well! Last week Slickdeals had a code for getting 20% (I think?) off Nike's clearance shoes and another code to get free shipping, I saw it and decided that I would go take a look as I have no running shoes (I accidently left them last year in the locker at the RB at the end of the year and so they cleared out the lockers and threw everything away). I found a pair that I liked and so I called Kyle to have him check them out. He said that they looked good and so I put in my order.

Well this morning I was up in my room when I heard the doorbell, I ran downstairs and opened up the front door, I saw a FedEx truck in front of our house but I saw the guy walking away, I looked to the side of the door and there was this beautiful box. I checked the label and found my name, I quickly ran upstairs and opened the box to find my shoes!!! I am super excited now, because now with shoes I can go to the RB and work out! Yeah for shoes!!
